Sports memorabilia condition guide and terminology |
When it comes to grading our main goal is to be consistent. The grading of vintage sports memorabilia will vary from one dealer or collector to another. Here is the basic condition guide that we use to rate the condition of each item we sell. Mint Brand new condition, unused, perfect, flawless. Nr/Mt (Near Mint) Very, very light use or wear. Fantastic condition. Ex/Mt+ Outstanding condition with light wear or use but no signifigant flaws. Ex/Mt (Excellent/Mint) Very nice condition. Normal wear or usage with no major flaws. Ex+ Shows use and/or wear with minor flaws, nice overall condition. Ex (Excellent) Shows use and/or wear with some notable flaws however should still be a nice displayable and/or usable item. Vg+ Lots of wear with some flaws but should still be useable and/or displayable. Vg (Very Good) Has seen fairly heavy use with wear and tear. Has signifigant flaws but represents the period and style nicely. G (Good) Will have major flaws; pieces missing and so on. This grade will work fine if a rustic display piece is all that is desired. F/P (Fair/Poor) Rustic at best with damage and flaws. |
